A Resources Challenge

For this article, I will be giving you the resources you will need in order to write Abstracts, Annotated Bibliographies and Literature Reviews. Having this information and tools will come in handy for submitting for conferences you are interested in presenting or speaking for. On top of resources for writing academically, I will be adding a few links for Fiction – Non-fiction authors who want to write blogs, short stories, and for freelance writing

First, let’s take a look at what is needed for academic writing resulting in invitations to speak at conferences.

  • Other than picking the topic, writing the Abstract is the easiest part of the entire process. An abstract generally consists of 100 to 300 words, making it a concise summary of what your presentation will be about.

Once you have submitted your abstract I would suggest starting on the next step. You can choose to wait until you have received the acceptance, but why wait? The more prepared you are the better.

  • The next step is a little more complicated in that of looking for 10 - 15 research articles to compliment and support each other is needed in order to write a great Annotated Bibliography.

Now that you have completed the Annotated Bibliography you can get started on the Literature Review.

  • For me this was the most difficult part of the entire process. For the Literature Review you will need 20 – 30 articles. For this part of the work, you will want to print the documents.Printing them will make it easier to piece all of the articles together. You will need to be able cut and tape the pieces together, but make sure you have the authors of the cut pieces written onto the piece you have just cut and added to the piece it is being linked with.

The most fun part of preparing for the presentation is how the presentation is going to be delivered. Is the conference calling for PowerPoint, Poster or Panel presentations?

For this article, I will give my readers access to Molly’s Story and Stanley Becomes a Kind Man to show the differences between two of the three styles of presentations. I have not been part of a Panel Presentation, so unfortunately I cannot give any examples for them.

As for blogs, short stories and non-fiction articles I would like to invite you to read what other bloggers are writing. In the past few months, I have had the opportunity of getting to reading blogs written by some other really, cool people. It has been an honor and a pleasure learning and writing alongside these gifted bloggers. A couple of my co-bloggers also write. They can be found at the following blog sites:

  • If anyone would be looking for a writing tutor Karna would be the woman to recommend for the job.Her work can be seen at - karnatecla.wordpress.com/

  • Author Reagan has an amazing blog giving all glory to her Lord and Savior. She can be found at - fiction4hisglory.com/index.html

  • Karen is someone I classify as a fabricologist – she writes about knitting, crocheting, sewing and various other crafts involving some sort of fabric - karenmonteith.com/

  • Nicole is laden with good information about all the additives put into our so shampoos, lotions and many other products we use. Her goal is to help her reader live healthier lifestyles. She can be found at - nicoleakers.com/

I have also become involved in a couple of freelance and other paid writing gigs, if that is what they can be called. Some of the websites include and involve writing contests:

This brings me to the end of this article. I hope I have been able to bring helpful useful information to anyone who wants to pursue an occupation involving writing. I also want to say thank you to all the co-bloggers who gave me permission to include and involve them in my blog, here.

One of the things needed in regards to blogging of course is an opening photo, picture or animation depicting and representing the story being shared. For this one it was found on google images, but upon a deeper look is can be found at - Writing In Your Own Words Teaching Resource
